Lia Rumma Gallery is going to present three special works in the Unlimited section: Vanessa Beecroft’s Untitled (Izanami) (2026) a film installation featuring Bianca Censori as Izaname and presented as an installation in which one set from the film becomes part of the work. Alfredo Jaar’s The Power of Words (1984/2021), a seminal, programmatic work that reveals how, at the age of twenty-eight, the artist was already confronting the political stakes of images. Wael Shawky’s installation I Am Hymns of the New Temples (2022/2026), a sculptural investigation into Greco-Roman mythology, specifically how myths are disseminated and persist across sources, time, and cultures. Lia Rumma Gallery is pleased to participate in Basel Exclusive, presenting William Kentridge’s Frieze (13 rusted figures), 2026. Frieze (13 rusted figures) is a series of 13 stainless steel with rust paint figures of variable dimensions (up to 144cm high) placed in sequence, as in a procession, which is a repeated motif in Kentridge's work.The ironic succession of these characters, who have human features and at the same time natural elements, or obsolete objects, evokes a forced migration, the inexorable uncertainty that accompanies conditions of displacement and exile.
